Description	:	IN MEMORIAM Charles "Carl" Dworeck was born about 1794 in Kuschwitz Germany. He came to America aboard the US Teutonia, on August 9, 1862 with his wife, Elizabeth, and future daughter in-law, Caroline Pinge. His son, GOTTLIEB DWORECK, born 1829, had arrived earlier in 1857. He purchased land in Franklin Township, Marshall County, Kansas. He started a homestead on Spring Creek in 1861, close to where Home City would be established in 1884. Read More	IN MEMORIAM Charles "Carl" Dworeck was born about 1794 in Kuschwitz Germany. He came to America aboard the US Teutonia, on August 9, 1862 with his wife, Elizabeth, and future daughter in-law, Caroline Pinge. His son, GOTTLIEB DWORECK, born 1829, had arrived earlier in 1857. He purchased land in Franklin Township, Marshall County, Kansas. He started a homestead on Spring Creek in 1861, close to where Home City would be established in 1884. Shortly after the arrival of Caroline in 1862, she and Gottlieb were married. Tragedy stuck this family, when Gottlieb took his life. He was found on April 11, 1863, a shotgun by his side. They had a son, Gottlieb Charles Dworeck, on November 15, 1863. Caroline married James Blocker, a civil war veteran, on May 18, 1865. She raised 9 more children. Young Gottlieb took the last name of Blocker. The other children were: Lottawina, Charles, Jacob, Jakferd, Johanna, Auguste, Fred, James, & Louisa. Elizabeth died about 1863. She never appeared in the 1865 census records and was not listed in the notarized document of Gottlieb's death. Carl continued living with Caroline and James. The last record of him was in the 1875 census, listed as 81 years old. He lived to watch his grandson grow to be 12 years old. No headstones remain in the Blocker Cemetery for Carl, Elizabeth and Gottlieb. James Blocker was buried here but later moved to the Home City Cemetery about June 3, 1916. The deceased children of Caroline and James, Lottewina, Jakferd, Auguste, and Johanna were also moved from the Blocker cemetery to the Home City Cemetery. Caroline was buried next to James at her death October 11, 1923.
