Fred Heiserman passed away in 1907, but his widow survives and now resides in Delaware county with her children. The parents came to the new world with their ten children, all of whom are yet living. Gottlob Heiserman, who was a youth of about thirteen when he accompanied his parents on their emigration to America, has devoted his attention to general agricultural pursuits throughout his entire business career with excellent results. In 1907 he purchased fifty acres of land within the corporation limits of Ryan in Delaware county, and has since cultivated the same, also raising graded stock. He has met with success in his undertakings and may justly lay claim to the proud American title of a self-made man, having gained his prosperity entirely through his own efforts and well directed industry. On the 24th of March, 1891, Mr Heiserman was united in marriage to Miss Lauretta Wendling, a daughter of Henry and Lauretta (Duwell) Wendling, who were natives of Germany and took up their abode in Delaware county, Iowa, in 1885. The father passed away in 1897, while the demise of the mother occurred in 1909. To Mr and Mrs Heiserman have been born twelve children, eight of whom survive, as follows: Clara, Anna, Lydia, Lauretta, Hugo, Ervin, Lena and Leroy. In religious faith Mr Heiserman is a Lutheran, belonging to the church of that denomination at Ryan. His life has been active, useful and upright and his many excellent qualities of mind and character have trained him a wide circle of friends.
