Description	:	Gottlob W. Eckstein was born to Matthaus and Fredericka (Haug) Eckstein on 19 November 1873 in Grosingersheim, Germany (about 20 miles north of Stuttgart). Gottlob and his sister Fredericka came to the United States, arriving in New York City on 10 May 1890 (before the immigration services at Ellis Island opened). Gottlob married Emilie Neher on 17 April 1900 in Centerville, South Dakota. Gottlob is buried in the Zion cemetery, west northwest of Hurley, South Dakota, along with Emilie and two of their children, Barbara K. and Christian, who both died young.
