She was born Jan. 5, 1923, in Kokomo, to Clarence and Emma (Newburn) Anthony. She married Howard Hobbs on Dec. 27, 1937, and he died Aug. 21,1994. As a young mother, Grace worked at Globe and retired from Pepka Springs. Grace has dedicated her life to loving and caring for others. Words can't express how much she will be missed. Grace was a gift from God to her children. She was the mother of six children and raised one grandson. Surviving are her daughters, Janette Meadows and Mary (Garry) Henderson, both of Kokomo, sons, Howard (Michelle) Hobbs Jr., and John (Paula) Hobbs, both Bonita Springs, Fla.; 15 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. Grace was preceded in death by her parents; husband, daughter, Betty Gaston; son, Jerry Hobbs; one grandson whom she raised, Robin Hasse; four brothers and three sisters. Services are 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2011 at Shirley and Stout Funeral Home, Jefferson Street Chapel, 414 W. Jefferson St. Kokomo with Pastor Chuck Griffith officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends and family may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday before the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to American Diabetes Association.
