Description	:	Grace Cherry Sprott, 98, passed away peacefully on Thursday morning, October 24th. She was born on February 27, 1921, in Washington, NC. She was the daughter of the late Jack Cherry and Annabelle Woolard Cherry. Grace graduated from Washington City Schools then attended Mitchell College in Statesville, NC, where she met her husband to be, William Cantey Sprott of Manning, SC. She then went on to attend Flora Macdonald College in Red Springs, NC. Cherry and Cantey were married in the Episcopal Church in Washington on January 19, 1942. She was born on February 27, 1921, in Washington, NC. She was the daughter of the late Jack Cherry and Annabelle Woolard Cherry. Grace graduated from Washington City Schools then attended Mitchell College in Statesville, NC, where she met her husband to be, William Cantey Sprott of Manning, SC. She then went on to attend Flora Macdonald College in Red Springs, NC. Cherry and Cantey were married in the Episcopal Church in Washington on January 19, 1942. After WWII ended, they settled in Summerton where they raised their 3 children, owned and operated the Piggly Wiggly, and attended Summerton United Methodist Church for many years. Known by many names, Grace (those who knew her before college), Sister, Cherry, Mrs. Sprott, Miss Cherry, Aunt Grace, Aunt Cherry, Mama, & Granny, she was loved by all who knew her. She was a lover of God, family, friends, children, dogs, books, good movies, “Downton Abbey”, People Magazine, Kleenex, pajamas, Happy Hour, cookies and naps! She spent most of her adult life taking care of others; her children, her husband, many times her grandchildren, and then her mother, who lived to the ripe old age of 101. In her later years she moved from her home in Summerton to her home she loved down on Lake Marion. When she gave up driving, she enjoyed spending a few years living with her son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Sherry, in Charleston and, for a while, living the big city life in Atlanta. Her last 10 years were spent living with her daughter and son-in-law Cherry Ann and Eddie Muldrow at their home on Lake Murray in Chapin, SC. She still spent her summers and Thanksgiving Holidays at the house on Lake Marion, surrounded by lots of family and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband of 49 years, her son, William Cantey Sprott, Jr., her brother, Jack Cherry, Jr., and many, many in-laws.
