She had been living with a son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd R. Neumann, at San Mateo since last August. She suffered a heart attack at home on May 6. Read More	Mrs. Grace Neumann, 79, Dies in California Mrs. Grace Neumann, a resident of Center and Creighton communities for 48 years, died at a San Mateo, Calif., hospital June 5 at the age of 79. She had been living with a son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd R. Neumann, at San Mateo since last August. She suffered a heart attack at home on May 6. After being hospitalized she appeared to be improving when she suffered a stroke and died a few days later. Funeral services were held in Creighton at Hengstler's Chapel on Thursday, June 8. The Rev. Richard T. Hartshorn, minister of the Congregational-Baptist Church, officiated. Burial was in Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers were Billy York, Max Copper, Glen Gillogly, Jewell and Dale Neumann and Charles Stevenson. Grace D. Copper, daughter of James W. and Adilade Copper, was born Aug. 24, 1887 at Lake City, Ia. She grew up there, attended the public school and later was employed at the post office. About 1909 she went to South Dakota to visit a sister who was homesteading there. She met William Alvin Neumann and they were married Dec. 20, 1910 at Danton in Tripp County. They homesteaded near Colome, S.D., living there until 1918 when they moved with their three children to the old Neumann place near Center. There their fourth child was born. Mr. and Mrs. Neumann farmed until 1938 when they moved to a place north of Creighton. Mr. Neumann died in 1957. Following her husband's death, Mrs. Neumann lived in Creighton until August 1966, when she went to her son's home in California. Mrs. Neumann was a member of the Baptist faith. Surviving are her children, Lloyd of San Mateo, Mrs. Edythe Oltjenbruns of Plainview, Melvin of Creighton and Mrs. Ray (Marceline) Foster of Center; 11 grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. R.W. (Dolle) Brady of Webster City, Ia. Her parents, husband, five brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.
