Ellis, 77, lifetime resident of Benedict community, and the widow of John Ellis, collapsed and died this morning in the office of her physician at York. Although Mrs. Ellis had not been feeling well for a couple of weeks, her daughter Maxine, who was with her mother at the time of her death, said she had come to York for the normal checkup. Ellis, 77, lifetime resident of Benedict community, and the widow of John Ellis, collapsed and died this morning in the office of her physician at York. Although Mrs. Ellis had not been feeling well for a couple of weeks, her daughter Maxine, who was with her mother at the time of her death, said she had come to York for the normal checkup. Born December 13, 1885, at Benedict the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles A. Wonderly, she was married on January 3, 1912 to Mr. Ellis. The couple farmed 3 ½ miles northeast of Benedict. In 1930 they retired to Benedict. Mr. Ellis died December 30, 1960. Surviving besides her daughter, Maxine, who lives at the parental home are two sisters, Winifred Heald, Kansas City, Mo., and Mrs. Jennie Bay of Alliance, and one brother, R. W. Wonderly of Omaha. Preceding her in death were her husband, parents, and one daughter, Faye. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Metz chapel. Burial will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Benedict.
