Description	:	ALDEN—Grace E. Lawson, 82, of Alden, died on Tuesday, January 10, 2006, at the Ellsworth Municipal Hospital in Iowa Falls. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, at the Immanuel Memorial United Church of Christ in Alden, with burial in the Alden Cemetery. A memorial fund in Grace's name has been established at the United Bank & Trust in Alden. Funds will be used for children's programs at the Alden Public Library. Lawson, 82, of Alden, died on Tuesday, January 10, 2006, at the Ellsworth Municipal Hospital in Iowa Falls. The Surls Funeral Home in Alden is in charge of the arrangements. Grace Elizabeth Lawson, was born on May 2, 1923, in Victorbur, Germany. She graduated from the Alden High School, Ellsworth Junior College and Drake University of Des Moines. She was united in marriage to Eugene Lawson on February 4, 1943 in Alden. She taught in rural schools in Franklin and Hardin Counties in the 1940s and taught in the Alden School District until her retirement in 1985. Grace loved motivating children to learn. She loved spending time with her family and was proud of her German heritage. She was a past Grand Marshal for Alden Egg Days and enjoyed being active with the Alden Public Library. Survivors include one daughter, Ruth Allen of Olathe, Kansas; one son, Jon Lawson of Houston, Texas; granddaughter, Jennifer Allen of Olathe; grandson, Bryan Allen and great-grandson, Isaiah of Olathe; and half-sisters, Annelise Kruse and Johanna Freerks of Germany. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Lawson; son-in-law, Steve Allen; and mother, Janna Ites. Contributor: SMGordon (51151226)
