Description	:	Defiance Crescent-News Obituary Mrs. Grace Niswander, 82, rt. 4, was dead on arrival at Defiance Hospital at 7:45 a.m. today, Thursday, February 6, 1969. She had been ill a short time and had been discharged from the hospital Monday. Born a half mile east of Jewell in a log house, August 11, 1886, she was a daughter of Samuel and Helen (Shasteen) Easley. She and Ernest Niswander were married November 3, 1938. Born a half mile east of Jewell in a log house, August 11, 1886, she was a daughter of Samuel and Helen (Shasteen) Easley. She and Ernest Niswander were married November 3, 1938. She attended Defiance Public Schools and Defiance College, graduating with a bachelor of music degree. She gave piano lessons and was employed as secretary for the county agent and Farm Bureau and also was secretary to the president of Defiance College in 1925. She and her husband moved in 1942 to Independence, where they operated a fruit farm. Surviving are the husband; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Elmer (Dora) Seigman, rt. 6, and Mrs. Floyd (Lillian) Davis, 302 E. High; two stepsons, Harold, Independence, and Robert, Gilboa; 10 step grandchildren and seven step-great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were five brothers, Orus, Lucian, S. Burton, Charles and Lawrence Easley. She was a member of St. Paul's Methodist Church, Defiance, and its Women's Society of Christian Service. Calling hours in Mast and Mock Funeral Home will be after 7 o'clock tonight. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home, the Rev. Charles Russell, pastor of the Evangelical Methodist Church, Defiance, officiating. Burial will be in Independence Cemetery.
