Kirkland-Lehr Anonymous Star Beacon The Star Beacon Sun Jun 12, 2011, 09:00 AM EDT KINGSVILLE — Grace Gloria Kirkland-Lehr, age 83, died unexpectedly Wednesday, June 8, 2011, at the Cleveland Clinic after a short illness. The daughter of William and Leona Johnson, she was born on Nov. 10, 1927, in Cleveland, Ohio. She was employed as a nurse's aide for many years at Ashtabula General Hospital prior to her retirement. Grace had lived in Kingsville for nearly fifty years, before moving to Alamogordo, N.M. with her husband, Sidney Lehr. A lifetime member of the Ashtabula VFW Post #943, she was Past President of the Ladies Auxiliary. Grace also belonged to the Loyal Order of the Moose and the Cooties of Geneva, Ohio. Grace was a not one to sit around and watch the world go by. She loved to travel, in her later years she would spend the winters at her home in New Mexico and her summers in Ohio. When her children were young, she was an active participant in their lives. Grace liked being a Girl Scout leader; she was also the Chairman of the yearly cookie sale. She enjoyed being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Nothing could make Grace feel better than her weekly hair and nail appointment. She is survived by her husband of twelve years, Sydney Lehr; her children, John Kirkland of Oakland Park, Fla. and Bonnie Pollack of Ashtabula; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and her treasured friends. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Chester Kirkland on March 31, 1990 prior to celebrating their fiftieth wedding anniversary; two sons, Gary Paul and William Earl Kirkland; and her parents. A Memorial Service will be held 7 p.m., Sunday, June 19th, at DUCRO FUNERAL SERVICES AND CREMATORY, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula, with the Rev. Karen Tews, Pastor of Faith Lutheran Church, Ashtabula, officiating. Interment will be in Lulu Falls Cemetery in Kingsville, Ohio. Calling Hours will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Sunday, June 19th, prior to the Service, at the Funeral Home. Obituary at www.ducro.com and starbeacon.com.
