Description	:	Mrs. Grace H. Ward, 79, of Huntersville, N.C., died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007 at the Huntersville Oaks Nursing Home. She was born on March 16, 1928 in Rutherford County to the late Omer W. and Essie Mae Hollifield. Mrs. Ward was a graduate of Cool Springs High School, class of 1944 in Forest City, N.C. She then went on to Appalachian State Teacher's College where she got a BS in Home Economics in 1948. In 1950 she received her masters degree from Ohio State University in Home Management. Ward, 79, of Huntersville, N.C., died Saturday, Nov. 24, 2007 at the Huntersville Oaks Nursing Home. She was born on March 16, 1928 in Rutherford County to the late Omer W. and Essie Mae Hollifield. Mrs. Ward was a graduate of Cool Springs High School, class of 1944 in Forest City, N.C. She then went on to Appalachian State Teacher's College where she got a BS in Home Economics in 1948. In 1950 she received her masters degree from Ohio State University in Home Management. She came back to Appalachian State and taught clothing and textiles and made wedding dresses. In 1951 she married Thomas L. Ward, who died March 26, 2005. They moved to Huntersville in 1951 and built a home in 1954. From 1951-1953, she taught Home Economics at North Mecklenburg High School. Grace was a member of First Baptist Church in Huntersville, where she taught Sunday school, Bible school and was active in building programs. She was a member of the Huntersville Women's Club and a member of the same bridge club for over 40 years. She led Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts when her children were active in those clubs. She is survived by three children, a sister, seven grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Memorials may be made to the Huntersville First Baptist Church Bldg. Fund, 119 N Old Statesville Road, Huntersville, N.C. 28078. The family will receive friends Monday night from 7-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2007 at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Doug Danner and the Rev. S.M. Dorton officiating. Burial will follow at 3:30 p.m. at the Ward Family Cemetery in Sugar Grove, N.C. Raymer Funeral Home Huntersville, N.C.
