At an early age she moved with her family to Missouri, near Oxford, then later moved to Iowa where she spent most of her life in and near Lamoni and Kellerton. Grace was united in marriage to Henry Wardrip March 1, 1911 and to this union one son, Glenn, was born. The family lived on a farm west of Lamoni until Henry's death January 4, 1919. She was united in marriage to Winfield Bowen December 8, 1920.. To this union a son, Winfield Junior was born. Grace was a kind and loving wife, mother and friend to everyone who knew her. She found a great joy in planting and tending her flowers, caring for her home and giving a helping hand when needed. Preceding her in death were her parents: 2 sisters who died in infancy; and one brother, Merle, who died January 5, 1976. After a lingering illness, Grace was called home by her Savior. Leaving to mourn her death is her husband, Winfield; 2 sons : Glenn of Lamoni; and Junior of Glenwood, Iowa; their wives; 6 grandchildren; Donald Wardrip, Grain Valley, Mo; Donavan Wardrip, Brawley, Ca; Lindon Bowen, Baxter, Iowa; Judy Schmidt, Holden, Mo; Patty Stephens; and Betty; 10 great grandchildren; 2 sisters; Iva Smith , Mt Ayr, Iowa; and Hazel Snell, Rogers, Ar; 3 brothers: Russell Hightshoe, Lamoni; Ted Hightshoe, Mt Ayr, Iowa; and Bud Hightshoe, Kellerton; 1 sister-in-law: Clyta Thompson, Mt Ayr; several nieces and nephews; and a host of friends. Funeral service was held June 8, 1979 at the Lamoni R L D S Church with the Slade Funeral Home of Leon in charge. Officiating were Elders Joe DeBarthe and Elbert Thomas. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Lamoni, Iowa.
