Description	:	Having been hospitalized since Jan. 9, Grace J. Skie died at McKennan hospital in Sioux Falls on Sunday, May 12, attaining the age of 73 years, one month and ten days. Grace J. Skie was born in Chicago, IL. on Apr. 2, 1918, the daughter of George S. and Rachel (Lien) Johnson. At the age of nine years her mother died and she moved to Canton, SD where she was raised by her grandmother, Ida Eneboe Lien and her great-aunt, Dr. Lena Eneboe. Skie was born in Chicago, IL. on Apr. 2, 1918, the daughter of George S. and Rachel (Lien) Johnson. At the age of nine years her mother died and she moved to Canton, SD where she was raised by her grandmother, Ida Eneboe Lien and her great-aunt, Dr. Lena Eneboe. She graduated from Canton High School in 1935 and then attended Augustana College for two years. She then was employed at Farmers State Bank in Canton. On Apr. 13, 1941, she was united in marriage to Marvin A. Skie at the Canton Lutheran Church. They lived southeast of Lennox near West Prairie Lutheran Church their entire married life. They celebrated 50 years of marriage in April. She was a devout wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Preceding her in death were one sister, Lucille, her mother and father. Survivors include her widower, Marvin; her son and daughter-in-law: Douglas M. and Julie Skie of Denver, CO.; her two daughters and sons-in-law: Linda and Vernon Miller of Vermillion, and Barbara and Robert Naatjes of Minneapolis, MN.; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; plus other relatives and a host of friends.
