Born in Port Howe, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Esther (Finley) Mitchell. Grace graduated from Normal Collage and taught at schools in Barronsfield and Thomson. Read More	Grace J Thompson 1922-2011 With much sadness the family of Grace J Thompson, age 89, of Thomson Station, NS, announce her peaceful passing at the High Crest Nursing Home, Springhill on Wednesday December 28, 2011, surrounded by her family. Born in Port Howe, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Esther (Finley) Mitchell. Grace graduated from Normal Collage and taught at schools in Barronsfield and Thomson. She later worked as postmaster in Thomson for 20 years, and then at the post office in Oxford for 13 years. In addition, Grace was a homemaker all her life. She was a lifetime member of the UCW and elder of the Thomson United Church for many years. Grace will be missed by her son, Bill (Ellen) Thompson; daughters, Carolyn Johnson, and Brenda (Mark) Ripley; grandchildren, Tammy, Tanya, Adam, Graham, Ryan, Marcie, Kenny and Laura; 10 great grandchildren, the most recent being born on December 25, 2011, Brandon Ellsworth Thompson. Besides her parents, Grace was predeceased by her husband, Ellsworth, her birth mother, Mary McKay; daughter, Dorothy and a son in infancy; brothers, Glover and Joe; sisters Marguerite and Grace; and son in law Danny Johnson. Arrangements have been entrusted to W Allen Funeral Home, 60 Water Street, Oxford (902-447-2167), from where visitation will take place 7-9 pm on Friday, December 30, 2011. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 31, 2011 at 11 am, from the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Thomson Cemetery. Donations in memory of Grace may be made to the Thomson Cemetery Fund, or a charity of your choice.
