Description	:	Grace Mae Stewart Rice, 80, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 4, 2010, at her rural Meriden home. She was born June 13, 1929 south of Paxico, Kansas. She was the daughter of Garfield Albert Stewart and Ethel (Granny) May Longaker Stewart Clark. Grace attended grade school in McFarland, KS; Roosevelt Junior High in Topeka; and graduated from Topeka High School in 1947. During her high school years, she worked at Montgomery Wards. Read More	Grace Mae Stewart Rice, 80, went to be with the Lord on Monday, January 4, 2010, at her rural Meriden home. She was born June 13, 1929 south of Paxico, Kansas. She was the daughter of Garfield Albert Stewart and Ethel (Granny) May Longaker Stewart Clark. Grace attended grade school in McFarland, KS; Roosevelt Junior High in Topeka; and graduated from Topeka High School in 1947. During her high school years, she worked at Montgomery Wards. She married Norris Monroe Rice of Meriden on May 23, 1947 and they celebrated 62 years of marriage. Grace and Norris made their home south of Meriden on a farm. Grace was preceded in death by her parents and an infant granddaughter, Rachel Mae Wilson. Grace went to work at Rubber Workers Credit Union in December, 1969. About a year later, she went to work at Santa Fe Credit Union in Topeka, where she retired as an Investment Officer. Grace loved the Lord and she loved her family & friends. During her younger years, she taught Sunday school classes. She was a member of Grace Baptist Church in Topeka. Grace loved to cook and visit with family & friends. She enjoyed bird watching, gardening, traveling and dancing. She was the matriarch of four generations: Grace Mae Rice, Judy Mae Wilson, Rebecca Mae McBurney, and Ryleigh Mae & Jadyn Mae McBurney. Grace was a precious and awesome lady, who will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Survivors include: her husband Norris; son, Earl Lee Rice & his wife Marla of Meriden; daughter, Judy Wilson & her husband Steve of Meriden; seven grandchildren, Rebecca McBurney & her husband J.P. of Lees Summit, MO; Andy Wilson & wife Lindsay of Wichita; Matthew Rice & wife Kristina of Wetmore, KS; Jay Dee Rice, Steven Rice, Sierra Rice, & DAndre Rice of Meriden; two great-granddaughters, Ryleigh & Jadyn McBurney of Lees Summit; sister, Betty Jean BJ Whiteman of Meriden; Uncle Harold Longaker & wife Jeanne of Lawrence; Aunt Mabel Dixon of Eugene, Oregon; plus many nieces, nephews & cousins. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m., Thursday, January 7th at Jefferson Assembly of God, 8640 Clark Rd, Meriden. She will lie in state Wednesday from noon 6:00 p.m. at the Davidson Funeral Home in Topeka. A visitation will be at 11:30 a.m. until service time Thursday at the church. Burial will be at Grantville Cemetery.
