Read More	Obit: Tuesday Rites Planned For Mrs. T. R. Biddle Funeral services will take place Tuesday afternoon for Mrs. Thomas R. Biddle, 83, who died Saturday evening at her residence on Utah Place. Mrs. Biddle, the daughter of Clinton L. and Delia Kessinger Poston, was a member of one of the Hocking Valley's pioneer families. Her grandfather, Lorenzo Dow Poston, and her father were among the earliest coal operators in the Hocking field. Born February 6, 1871 at Nelsonville, Mrs. Biddle spent most of her life in Athens, where the family moved in 1890. The family home was built on Park Place, on the site of the residence of her maternal grandparents. It is now the residence of the president of Ohio University. Active in a number of Athens clubs throughout her lifetime. Mrs. Biddle was a charter member of the Women's Music Club and the Athens Garden Club, and was a member of the Social Literary Club. She was also active in the Nabby Lee Ames Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution and with her husband, was a member for almost 40 years of the Athens Reading Club. The couple held honorary memberships in that club during the last years of their lives. Mrs. Biddle was also a life-long member of the First Methodist Church and for two years served as a member of the Athens city board of education. Her husband, Dr. Thomas R. Biddle, died September 10, 1953 and their only child, Clinton P. Biddle, on April 17, 1939. Her only brother Lorenzo D. Poston, died in 1946. Surviving are her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Clinton P. Biddle, of Weston, Massachusetts, and five grandchildren: Barbara, David, Nancy, Bruce and Susan Biddle. Other surviving members of the family include an aunt, Mrs. Sallie K. Elliott, Columbus; a niece, Mrs. Richard W. McKinstry, Athens, who was reared in the Biddle home, and many other nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, 2:30 p.m., at the First Methodist Church by Dr. John M. Versteeg. Interment will be in West Union Street Cemetery. The family has requested omission of flowers. Friends may call at the Biddle home on Utah Place Monday from 3 to 5 p.m. and after 7 p.m. and from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesday.
