Description	:	Grace Myrtle (Minner) Banaka died December 30, 1940 in Kansas City at the age of 57. Grace was born November 23, 1883 at Soldier. She was the first child of John P. and Eliza (Baker) Minner. She was a wonderful musician. She received her education at Northwestern Music Academy in Chicago, Illinois. Grace was the music and piano teacher in Soldier, Holton and Havensville schools. She also gave lessons out of her home and had recitals from time to time at Havensville gymnasium. Grace was born November 23, 1883 at Soldier. She was the first child of John P. and Eliza (Baker) Minner. She was a wonderful musician. Grace and Henry raised two foster children; Duane and Frank Johnson. Grace and her family lived in the Soldier area and in the spring of 1939 the family bought a house in Kansas City and moved there. THE TOPEKA STATE JOURNAL - WEDNESDAY - JANUARY 1, 1941 Word has been received in Topeka of the death of Mrs. Grace (Minner) Banaka, sister of Mrs. E. P. Skaggs, of Topeka, who died Monday morning in Kansas City, Missouri. Surviving are husband, Henry J. Banaka, of the home; two foster sons; two step-daughters; one step-son; four sisters and three brothers. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at the Gabel-McCasey funeral home in Holton. Burial in the Netawaka cemetery.
