Grace was born on June 15, 1912, at Hull, the daughter of Martin B. and Elizabeth (Kastein) Nymeyer. Read More	Grace Haan June 15, 1912 - November 22, 2014 Grace Haan, age 102, formerly of Hull, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, November 22, 2014, at the Sanford Care Center in Vermillion, South Dakota. Grace was born on June 15, 1912, at Hull, the daughter of Martin B. and Elizabeth (Kastein) Nymeyer. She was raised at Hull, where she attended the Hull Christian Grammar School and graduated from the Western Christian Academy in 1929. She also received an A. B. degree from the Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls in 1936 and a Master of Music Education degree from the University of South Dakota in Vermillion in 1958. On October 18, 1937, she married Leonard R. Haan in Hull. They made their home in Hull, Sioux Center, Iowa, Prinsburg, Minnesota, and Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She was a teacher of Latin, German, and music at the Western Christian High School in Hull for many years, until 1957, and she was a teacher at the Central Minnesota Christian School in Prinsburg from 1957 to 1961. She also gave private piano and organ lessons throughout the years. In later years, they resided at the Trail Ridge Retirement Center in Sioux Falls. Mr. Haan passed away on March 1, 2001, in Sioux Falls. In 2002, Mrs. Haan moved to Vermillion to live with her daughter. She entered the Care Center in August of 2006. She was a member of Christian Reformed Churches most of her life, but had been a member of the Trinity Reformed Church in Sioux Falls and was currently a member of the Providence Reformed Church in Vermillion. Survivors include her two daughters, Mrs. Irwin (Trudy) Raak, of Jasper, Minnesota, and Mrs. Lawrence (Elizabeth) Mitchell, of Vermillion; six grandchildren, Gene Raak, of Edgerton, Minnesota; Philip Raak and Michal Raak Mark, both of Jasper; Steven Raak, of Eau Claire, Wisconsin; and Jennifer (Dan) Van Peursem and Susan (Greg) Van Holland, both of Vermillion; twenty great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Alida Akker, of Buchanan Dam, Texas. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two infant grandsons, Keith Raak and Baby Mitchell; two brothers, Benjamin and Frederick Nymeyer; and a sister, Anna Marie Van Drunen (Mrs. Joe).
