Hougan of Kansas City in charge. Rev. L. Grigaby assisted him. Music was furnished by Mrs. N. W. Taylor, Mrs. M. D. Lang, R. R. Honeyman, and R. L. Fields with Mrs. R. R. Honeyman at the organ. Pal bearers were W. H. Cramer, Frank Oglevie, M. D. Lang, W. C. Short, Wilbur Morrison, and Vernon Johnson. Mrs. Vernon Johnson, Mrs. J. F. Grace Walkup McDonald, third child of Hannah and Daniel McDonald, was born March 27, 1856 at Acton, Ontario, Canada. In her girlhood she united with the Baptist Church and was an active member in Sunday School work and a member of the choir in her church at Uzbridge, Canada. On March 12, 1879 she united in marriage with John W. Crawford at Milton, Ontario, Canada. In April 1881, she came with her husband and daughter, Mary to Miles, Iowa, and the following spring located at Savanna, Illinois, where they lived until the beginning of the century. Early in the year of 1901 the family moved to a farm northeast of Emerson, where they lived for 7 years except for a short time spent in Madison County. They moved to their present home in Emerson in December 1909, where she departed this life Thursday morning, October 8, after an illness of six months at the age of 86 years, 6 months, and 12 days. Her husband preceded her in death on July 16, 1926. A daughter Maude passed away six years ago on October 7. Mrs. Crawford was the mother of seven children, six of whom survive. These left to mourn her departure are Mary at home, Grace A. Evie of Davis City, Gardner of Creston, Frank of Broadview, Montana, Earle of Emerson, and John of Billings, Montana. Also 8 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Crawford was, in 1898, with her husband, baptized into the Reorganized Church of the Latter Day Saith and to that faith she has been a conscientious member throughout the years, although isolated from the church of her choice most of the time. She was a faithful member of Mrs. R. O. Smith's Sunday School at the Methodist Church and attended services in this church also. She was a member of the Christian Home Society and member of the Red Cross. Mrs. Crawford knitted 20 sweaters since the beginning of the present war. Mrs. Crawford was a true Christian character, beloved by her neighbors and friends and always willing to give her support to any worthy cause. Truly it can be said that of her that.
