Read More	Obituary taken from The Edna Sun, June 30, 1999: Mrs. Gracie May Kirkland, age 91, of Edna, died Saturday, June 26, 1999at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Charolen and Jack Purcell of rural Coffeyville, where she had lived since July 24, 1998. She had fought cancer for seven years. She was born May 30, 1908 to David William and Rosie (Henson) Plowman in Harper County, Fort Supply, Oklahoma, in her grandparents sod home. The family lived in a dugout before moving into a box car on a farm six miles north of Edna in 1918. She attended school at the Jamesville School and LCCHS. She was the oldest of seven children. She and Lloyd F Kirkland were married at Oswego in September of 1928. They then moved to a farm southeast of Edna. He preceded her in death on November 15, 1966. She enjoyed working in the Churhc and was a long time member of the Assembly of God Church of Edna. She was a member of the Ladies Missionary Group and was Secretary-Treasurer of the group for 41 years. She was the Church Secretary for 31 years and served 15 years as a Deaconess. Survivors include one daughter, Charolen Purcell and husband Jack of Coffeyville; one grandson, Lloyd W. Purcell of Mound Valley; two brothers, Andrew J. Plowman of Parsons, and James D. Plowman of Roseburg, OR; three great-granddaughters; three step great-granddaughters; five great great grandchildren; and eight step great great-grandchildren. She had a hose of friends and neighbors. She was preceded in death by one grandson, David Eugene Purcell; two sisters; and two brothers. Services will be held Wednesday, June 30, at 2 p.m.l at the Assembly of God Churc in Edna with Rev. Chad Mustain officiating. Burial will follow in Lake Creek Cemetety of Bartlett. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 7 to 8 at the Bath Funeral Home of Altamont. Memorials may be madeto the Church Building Fund.
