Born in and a lifelong resident of Marmora except for a short time when he lived in Deloro, Mr. Airhart was the son of Mrs.Kathleen Airhart and the late Charles Airhart. Born in and a lifelong resident of Marmora except for a short time when he lived in Deloro, Mr. Airhart was the son of Mrs.Kathleen Airhart and the late Charles Airhart. He was the husband of Sheila Airhart (nee Clarke). Mr. Airhart is survived by his mother, his wife, two sons, James Airhart of Scarborough and Richard Airhart of Marmora, and a daughter. Jo-Anne Airhart of RR 3, Frankford. He is also survived by his sister, Mrs. Jack Murphy(Jean) of Deseronto. He was predeceased by his brother, Harold Airhart. Mr. Airhart, who was the Reeve of the Village of Marmora and on Village business at the time of his death, was retired from Marmoraton Mining Company. He was educated in Marmora and Deloro and was a member, an elder and on the Board of Stewards of St. Andrew's United Church, Marmora. He was also an honorary member of Marmora . Branch 237, Royal Canadian Legion, was Past Noble Grand of IOOF Springbrook Lodge 429, and was District Deputy Grand Warden of IOOF Springbrook Lodge 429 at the time of his death. From 1964 to 1968, Mr. Airhart served with the Marmora Public School Board. He was elected to Marmora Village Council in December.1968, where he served as councillor for four years. In December 1972, he was elected Deputy-reeve, the first in Marmora Village, where he served for four years. He began serving in 1973 at the County Council level of government. . He was elected Reeve of Marmora Village on December 6, 1976, and reelected in 1978. He also received The office of Reeve twice by acclamation in 1980 and 1982. He was completing his ninth year in that office at the time of his death. He was also a past member of Marmora Volunteer Fire Department. The funeral service was held on Monday. May 6, at St. Andrew's United Church with the Reverend Walter Mittler officiating. A special service was held at the McConnell. Funeral. Home, Marmora, on Satur day, May 4, by the IOOF Springbrook Lodge 429. Members of Hastings County Council formed an honor guard at St. Andrew's United Church. Pall-bearers were Charles Airhart, Harold Airhart Jr.. both nephews, Cecil Neal, Boyd Warren,Randy Warren and Wayne White. Honorary pall-bearers were Roy Frost, Jack Grant. Jack Reynolds, Garnet Brownson, Bernard Doyle. Rollie Landry, and Les McKeown. all village employees or members of council. Scripture from Psalms 103 verses 8-18 and Psalms 121 and 123 were read by Richard Airhart, Mr. Airhart's son.
