OBITUARY: Nevada Journal -Read at his funeral: Grant Johnson Jordan, son of Mr. and Mrs George Jordan, was born April 30, 1916 southwest of Nevada and Shipley community passed away October 5th at the age of 31 years of age. He attended Shipley school and graduated with the class of 1933. After graduation he assisted his father in farming, until he was called into the Service of the United States, March 11, 1942. Corporal Grant Jordan served in the Coast Artillery and was stationed at Camp Callan for eight weeks, being shipped to Oahu, Hawaii, serving there 11 months. From there he returned to Camp Pendelton, Norfolk, Virginia; then to Fort Monroe, and Fort Story; serving at Post Commander and switch board radar. He was discharged January 16, 1946 and has since been assisting his father in farming. He leaves to mourn his departure, his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Jordan; brothers-Harvey P. of Ankeny, G.Roy of Ankeny; Ronald D. of Ames, Lawrence K. of Earlham. Sisters - Dorothy Anita Bell of Des Moines, and Lois Mae Christiansen of Ames; other relatives and a host of friends.
