He had been ailing for several years and was seriously ill the past six weeks. He was born to Anton and Josephine Kowalski on March 12, 1875 in Germany. When he was ten years old his parents immigrated to the United States, coming to the St. Libory community where they farmed. In 1897 he was married to Josie Suda of St. Libory. They farmed in Howard and Sherman counties and also lived for a time in Boone County. Three years ago both Mr. and Mrs. Kowalski moved to a rest home in Fullerton. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Anna Valasek and a son, Roman, and a brother, Frank. He is survived by his wife Josie, five daughters, Mrs. Dan (Kate) Krance of St. Edwards, Mrs. Stanley (Dorothy) Molezyk of Alda, Mrs. Edward (Helen) Yocum of Grand Island, Mrs. Anton (Marie) Grabowski of Aurora and Mrs. Joseph (Gertrude) Szatka of Platte Center; five sons, Gregory of St. Libory, Walter, Anton, Harry, Joseph, all of Columbus. He is also survived by 53 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, his brother Nick of St. Paul and two sisters, Mrs. James Darenczinski of Leavenworth, Kansas and Mrs. Anton Spotanski of Loup City.
