He graduated from Unity Freedom High School and attended Belknap College and Husson College. He began his career in telecommunications in 1964 as a lineman for UNITEL. Read More	Unity – Gregory L. Clifford, 48, of Unity, died unexpectedly Tuesday, February 21, 1995. He was born in Waterville on August 17, 1946. He graduated from Unity Freedom High School and attended Belknap College and Husson College. He began his career in telecommunications in 1964 as a lineman for UNITEL. After his release from the Army in 1971, he returned to UNITEL as an Installation/Repair technician. After serving as Plant Supervisor for two years, he was named Assistant Manager and then served as General Manager from 1991-1994. He was active in many industry, community, and civic endeavors. He was a Past President of the Telephone Association of Maine, Board member of the Telephone Association of New England and the Independent Telephone Pioneers Association. He also served on the Board of Directors for UNICEL, UNITEL, and was the co-owner of Unity Service Company. He was also a Charter member of the Unity Rotary, Member of the Star of the West Masonic Lodge, 32nd degree Mason, Past Assistant Photo Unit Director and presently Aide to the Potentate for the Anah Temple Shrine and member of the Waldo County Shrine Club. He was also the President and a Board member of Unity Leisure Homes. He was an avid golfer and member of the Waterville Country Club and a member of the Unity Union Church. Survivors include his parents, Bert C. and Coral (Berkley) Clifford of Unity; his wife, Mary (Gooding) Clifford of Unity; his son and daughter-in-law Bert D. and Victoria Clifford; daughter and son-in-law, Allison and Greg Morrill; daughter, Leslie Clifford; sister and brother-in-law Coral-Jeanne and Rick O'Connor of Hampden; sister, Shirley Clifford of Lawrenceville, Ga.; nephews, Cullen Gregory Oxton and George D. O'Connor; niece Patricia Ann O'Connor Visiting hours will be at the Lawry Brothers Funeral Home, Unity, from 2-4 and 7-9 on Friday, February 24. There will be a Masonic service at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be at the Unity Union Church on Saturday, February 25, at 10 a.m. (Published in the Waterville Morning Sentinel)
