Description	:	Mrs. James McClaran Mrs. Grissella McClaran of Davis City died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Harvey Poush on the morning of November 27, 1910, of cancer of the liver, after an illness of about two years. The end came suddenly though she had lain in a stupor for two weeks before her death. Various doctors and sanitariums were tried in the hope of her regaining her health but without avail. Read More	Mrs. James McClaran Mrs. Grissella McClaran of Davis City died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Harvey Poush on the morning of November 27, 1910, of cancer of the liver, after an illness of about two years. Grissella Clark was born June 17, 1837 in Columbiana county, Ohio and was the second daughter of John Clark, who was one of the earliest settlers and founders of Davis City. When but a child she came, with her parents from Ohio to Decatur county in 1857, and located in Spring Valley where her father engaged in the manufacture of woolen goods. She was married to James McClaran Nov. 9, 1860 and they became the parents of ten children, three of whom preceded her. She leaves seven children, namely: Horace L., Albert Bissell,. John Edward Benton, Harvey and. Hayes and one daughter,. Mrs. Grace Poush to mourn the loss of a mother, also two sisters,. Mrs. Caroline Biggs, of Leon, and Mrs. Elisabeth Bolan, of Davis City, and one brother Wm. Clark, of Omaha. That she has been called from our midst by the grim reaper,. Death, is a shock, yet the knowledge that she was a fervent Christian, sooths the bereaved ones with the thought that she has gone to her reward and her sufferings here on earth are over. She was raised a Presbyterian, but on March 4, 1898, became converted, in the faith of the Seventh Day Adventist church and ever proved a faithful member. Funeral services were held Tuesday at one o'clock, in the M. E. church and were conducted by Rev. Heald, Supt. of the Iowa Sanitarium after which she was laid to rest by the side of her husband in the beautiful Clark cemetery.
