Description	:	Grover Jans passed away about 3 o'clock this morning at the Hawarden hospital from injuries suffeed last Friday evening when he was kicked by a cow while doing chores at his farm, southeast of Hawarden. Mr. Jans was doing the milking when a cow kicked him, throwing him against the cement wall of the barn. He was able to walk to the house but he suffered greatly from his injury. Mr. Jans was doing the milking when a cow kicked him, throwing him against the cement wall of the barn. He was able to walk to the house but he suffered greatly from his injury. He was brought to the Hawarden hospital Saturday and X-ray pictures disclosed an injury to his spine, which caused his death. Mr. Jans suffered greatly and was delirious much of the time after he was injured. Funeral services will be held at Trinity Lutheran church in this city Sunday afternoon with Rev. Geo. Steinkamp in charge. Grover B. Jans was born in Plymouth county and had just recently passed his 46th birthday. He grew up in Plymouth county and when a young man came to his vicinity and on Nov. 19, 1913, he was united in marriage with Hazel Shoemaker. Since their marriage they have made their home on a farm, southeast of Hawarden. Four children were born to this union, who with the mother survive. The children are Lowell, Joyce, Lorraine and Hope, all at home. He also leaves four sisters and two brothers to mourn his untimely death. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran church of Hawarden. Mr. Jans was a man of struck integrity and the welfare of his family was ever his first thought. His sudden and tragic death bears heavily on the wife and children who have lost a loving husband and father. Sincere sympathy is extended to them in their great sorrow.
