Born on August 15, 1939, in Hemingway, he was a son of the late Grover Ashable Springs and the late Lillian "Lal" Altman Springs Montgomery. Mr. Springs was a dedicated member of Messiah Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He loved music and enjoyed fishing, hunting and reading, especially anything by Louis L’Amour. Born on August 15, 1939, in Hemingway, he was a son of the late Grover Ashable Springs and the late Lillian "Lal" Altman Springs Montgomery. Mr. Springs was a dedicated member of Messiah Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He loved music and enjoyed fishing, hunting and reading, especially anything by Louis L’Amour. Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Trudy Johnson Springs of Georgetown; two children, Marcell Springs of Brevard, NC and June Odonal (Gary) of Georgetown; four grandchildren, Cheryl Odonal, Rachel Odonal, Chad Odonal and Sagel Hadley Springs; five great grandchildren; one brother, Sidney Springs (Ruth) of Georgetown; two sisters, Susie Springs of Georgetown and Jean Martin of Kingstree; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Bean. He was preceded in death by a special step father, Ike Montgomery; two sisters, Charlie Turner and Madge Eaddy; and two brothers, Roger Springs and Kedron Springs. Funeral services will be held at 5 PM Tuesday, May 21, 2019 at Messiah Baptist Church with Rev. Ricky West officiating. Burial will follow in Pennyroyal Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6-8 PM Monday at Messiah Baptist Church.
