He was preceded in death by his parents Kyle and Grace Semones and a sister Ethel Adams. He was a World War II U.S. Army Veteran. He retired from Nelson Roanoke as a Walter Well Driller. He was a member of Old Union Primitive Baptist Church, where he served as deacon as long as he was able to attend.
