Description	:	Gusta J. Tieszen was born January 31, 1921 to John and Mary (Dick) Tieszen on the farm in rural Marion, SD. She received her education at Riverside School Grant District #3. On September 22, 1946 she married Willie H. Waltner and shared 53 years of marriage. They began farming in the Turkey Ridge Valley. In 1958, they moved to a farm near Silver Lake where she resided until June 2012 when, due to a broken hip, she moved to Oakview Terrace in Freeman, SD. Tieszen was born January 31, 1921 to John and Mary (Dick) Tieszen on the farm in rural Marion, SD. She received her education at Riverside School Grant District #3. On September 22, 1946 she married Willie H. Waltner and shared 53 years of marriage. They began farming in the Turkey Ridge Valley. In 1958, they moved to a farm near Silver Lake where she resided until June 2012 when, due to a broken hip, she moved to Oakview Terrace in Freeman, SD. In life she endured several serious health issues. She peacefully passed away February 3, 2014, three days after her 93rd birthday. Her greatest joy was spending time outdoors, helping on the farm (especially with livestock) and growing a large garden. She enjoyed spending time with her family and was always there to lend a helping hand in whatever way she could. She was adept at multitasking and was always busy with something. Gusta was the eternal optimist with a ‘can do' attitude and the stamina to match. Those preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Willie H. Waltner; twin infants, Mark and Mary; brothers, Alfred (Susie), Allen (Lucille), Ernest (Irene), and sister, Elma. She is survived by sons, Jerald (Carol), Ted (Cindy) and Murray; grandchildren, Matt (Rachel), and Katie; great-grandchildren, Treyton and Henry; sister-in-law, Esther Ensz; and a host of nieces and nephews.
