G, 4th Ohio Infantry - April 2, 1863 - October 29, 1865 Guthridge Gaston Gross of Spalding, Nebraska from 1880 -1890 a respected resident of Butler County died last Thursday, December 8, in Omaha. His remains were brought to David city Saturday and the funeral services were held in the Baptist church Sunday afternoon. Rev. J.R. Gettys preached the funeral sermon. G, 4th Ohio Infantry - April 2, 1863 - October 29, 1865 Guthridge Gaston Gross of Spalding, Nebraska from 1880 -1890 a respected resident of Butler County died last Thursday, December 8, in Omaha. His remains were brought to David city Saturday and the funeral services were held in the Baptist church Sunday afternoon. Rev. J.R. Gettys preached the funeral sermon. The burial was in the David City cemetery south of town. Mr. Gross was born in Fannon County, Georgia, December 14, 1844. While a young man he removed to Clay County, Indiana at which place he was united in marriage to Marry E. Dunlavey. To this union were born two sons, Frank M. of South Omaha, and William H. of Erickson Nebraska. In 1873 Mr. Gross with his family removed to Jasper county Iowa, where he resided until 1880, then coming to Butler County and David City. He maintained his residence here just 10 years, and in 1890 made another change, going with his family to Boone County, this state, and resided in the Cedar Valley until the day of his death. He was engaged in the livestock business all of his life. The later years being spent in buying stock in Spalding, Nebraska. Nearly a year ago his health began to fail and in the hope of being benefitted he underwent an operation which, while apparently successful, resulted in heart failure.
