He was born at Monroe, IA., May 9, 1893, son of Albert and Mary Nolin, and had lived in the monroe and Newton vacinities all of his life except for a year which he recently spent in Oregon.Being a coal miner most of his life, he retired from the mines of Jasper county. He had also worked at the Maytag and Parsons Co. Threshing was of great enjoyment to him, having owned threshing outfits of his own. He was a great lover of the out-of-doors and spent much of his spare time hunting, fishing and trapping. On Feb.12, 1913 he was united in marriage to Peral Postma at Sioux City, IA. To this union were born five children. Surviving are his wife and children, Woodrow, Robert, Mrs. Adine Breckenridge, Tony and Kermit, two grandchildren. Dixie Lee Breckenridge and Dennis Breckenridge, four brothers and four sisters, George and Clifford of Newton, Ira of Monroe, Ray of Michigan, Mrs. Blanche Stine, Mrs. Hazel Van Essen of Monroe, Mrs. Gladys Wagner of Des Moines, and Mrs. Esther Fraley of Los Angeles, CA. Also several uncles, aunts and cousins survive. Funeral Services were conducted at the Murdoch Funeral home in Newton, Monday May 4, at 1:30 p.m. by the Rev. Bowers of the Full Gospel Church. The songs included "Last Mile of the Way" and "Rock of Ages" by Mrs. Ben Simons and Laura Poland. Pallbearers were Ira Nolin, George Nolin, Clifford Nolin, Doyle Nolin, Arthur Nolin, and Art Van Essen. Burial was in the Newton Union Cemetery. **** PELLA CHRONICLE May 15, 1941 Guy Nolin, 41, passed away May 2, at his home at Newton. Mr. Nolin was born near Monroe and spent most of his life in this vicinity and near Newton. He is survived by his wife and 5 children, Woodrow, Robert, Mrs. Adine Breckenridge, Tony, and Kermit, all of Newton. Three brothers, George, Clifford, Ira of Iowa, and Ray of Michigan, four sisters, Mrs. Hazel Van Essen, Monroe, Mrs. Blanche Stine of Otley, Mrs. Gladys Wagner of Des Moines, and Esther Nolin of Los Angeles, California.
