Description	:	Guy O. Towler, 64, of Route 2, Afton, died Wednesday, April 12 in Waynesboro Community Hospital. He was born in Pittsylvania County, December 17, 1913, a son of the late Albert Kelly and Cora Lee Barbour Towler. He was a retired employee of the Waynesboro DuPont Co. and a member of Hebron Baptist Church, Afton, where he was a trustee and chairman of the deacons. Read More	Guy O. Towler, 64, of Route 2, Afton, died Wednesday, April 12 in Waynesboro Community Hospital. He was born in Pittsylvania County, December 17, 1913, a son of the late Albert Kelly and Cora Lee Barbour Towler. He was a retired employee of the Waynesboro DuPont Co. and a member of Hebron Baptist Church, Afton, where he was a trustee and chairman of the deacons. He was a member of Rockfish Ruritan Club of which he was past president and past governor of zone three, Woodrow Wilson district. He was a co-founder and past president of the Rockfish Valley Fire Department and an active member of the Nelson County Democratic Committee. He is survived by his wife, Rachel Quick Towler; two sons, Guy W. Towler and David R. Towler, both of Afton; a daughter, Mrs. Shelton L. (Wilma Lee) Stevens of Afton; a sister, Mrs. Mary T. Owen of Lynchburg; two brothers, Harley N. Towler and Claiborne Towler, both of Lynchburg, eight grandchildren and a grandson. Funeral services were held Friday from Hebron Baptist Church by Rev. John Chafee, Rev. Lloyd Judy and Rev. Wayne Carter with burial in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers were Guy Brooks, Matt Diggs, Homer Good, Carl Mitchell, John Mitchell, Jimmy Quick, Harriston Puckett and Melvin Thacker. Honorary pallbearers were the deacons of Hebron Baptist Church, members of the Rockfish Ruritan Club, Dr. Robert C. Raynor, Dr. Thomas L. Gorsuch, Garnette Thompson Jr., Maphis Campbell, Stanley McGann, Pete Falls, Jim Hammer and Don Pendleton. Etter Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
