Moore. When a child, Mr. Eaton came to Nebraska. He received his college degree from Salina College in Salina, Kansas. He was superintendent of schools at Burwell, Valentine, Gibbon, Orleans, Cozad and Maxwell, retiring from Maxwell to reside on his farm northwest of Cozad in 1935, and then moving to town in the fall of 1941. He was married to Kittie M. Joyce at Bloomington, Nebraska on December 25, 1896, and to them were born three children. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Darrell Eaton in 1945, his wife, Kittie in 1946, and a son, Harry F. Eaton in 1955. He is survived by a sister, Grace Thomas of Central City, and two children, Edgar A. Eaton of Port Arthur, Texas, and Fern E. Thomas of Denison, Texas, and by six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Guy W. Eaton was initiated into the Burwell Lodge of the Independent Order of Oddfellows April, 1906, being a member more than fifty-five years. During his membership, he belonged at Burwell, Dewitt, Maxwell, and Cozad. Transferred to the Cozad Lodge, January 5, 1920. He was a Past Grand, Past District Deputy Grand Master, Grand Conductor of Grand Lodge of Nebraska in 1936-37, and Grand Instructor of the Grand Lodge in 1956-57. He was Captain of the First Degree. He received Certificates of Proficiency of the Unwritten Work numerous times from Grand Lodge. Brother Eaton was initiated into Wildey Encampment No. 62, February 27, 1920. In this Branch of the Order he was a Past Patriarch, Past District Deputy Grand Patriarch and was Captain of the Patriarchal Degree at the time of his death. He was a Charter member of the Ladies Encampment Auxiliary of Cozad. He was mustered into Canton Colfax, No. 6, Patriarchs Militants at North Platte, June 2, 1930, he was a Past Captain and a Major Retired of the Second Regiment, First Battalion of Nebraska. The Department Patriarchs Militants of Nebraska conferred the Decoration of Chivalry on Major Guy W. Eaton, April 3, 1960. He was a Charter Member of Canton 100th Meridian No. 4 Patriarchs Militants of Cozad. He was initiated into the Burwell Rebekah Lodge, January 22, 1907; and later transferred to Priscilla Rebekah Lodge of Cozad. Brother Guy Eaton will be greatly missed from the councils of the Lodges where the Brother Oddfellows looked to him for advice and guidance. The funeral service was held in the Methodist Church on Saturday, December 16, 2:00 p.m. with the Reverend Herbert W. Jackman officiating. Mrs. Robert Atchison sang, accompanied at the organ by Mrs. Dale Brownfield. Interment was in the Cozad Cemetery with the Berryman Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
