Description	:	CLINTON — Gwemella M. Edens, 87, of Clinton, passed away Thursday, Sept. 18, 2014, at Alverno Nursing Home, Clinton. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 22, 2014, at Elvira Zion Lutheran Church, Clinton. Burial will be at Clinton Lawn Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Larry Ketelsen, Ken Eggers, Neal Ryan, Thaddeus Paisar, Toby Wilke and Terry Ryan. Gwemella Maxine Wilke was born Oct. 8, 1926, in Garden Plain, Ill., the daughter of Walter and Margaret (Marriner) Wilke. She married Raymond E. Edens on Sept. 28, 1947, in Clinton; he died March 26, 1999. Gwen was a graduate of Clinton High School. Gwen was a homemaker; she also worked for Nielsen’s Clearing House for 11 years. Gwen was a member of Elvira Zion Lutheran, Naomi Circle at the church and taught Sunday school while her children were growing up. She was a Low Moor Quilter who enjoyed sewing and doing crafts. She was an avid reader and enjoyed going to garage sales and flea markets. She was also a member of Mercy Auxiliary. Gwen is survived by her daughter, Raedene (Terry) Ryan, Clinton; her son, Lonnie Edens, Davenport; five grandchildren, Sara (Thaddeus) Paisar, Neal (Kristen) Ryan, Megan Ryan, Ashlee (Steve) Trafford, Alison Edens; and two great-grandchildren, Lucian and Kellen Paisar; one sister, Lynne Eads, Vancouver, Wash.; and several nieces; nephews; and cousins; and her beloved kitty, Yowza. Gwen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, Willadean; and one brother, Vernon. Memorials can be made to Elvira Zion Lutheran Church or Mercy Auxiliary.
