Jones of Lander, Wyo. With her family she came to this country in... Read More	Obituary MRS JOHN DAVIES. The late Mrs. John Davies was born in Towyn, Merionethshire, N. W. August 9th, 1821. Where also she passed the greater part of her early life. (note: birthdate also different from family date of 20 Jan 1830) In 1848 she was united in marriage to Mr. Hugh Jones of Towyn, Meirion N.W. of this union were born four children, two of whom survive their mothers: Mrs. Mary Hughes, of Williamsburg, and John O. Jones of Lander, Wyo. With her family she came to this country in 1850 and located in New Orleans, soon moving to Sheffield, Ill., where, shortly after coming to this place, she buried her husband. In April 1858, she was united in marriage to John Davies. To this union were born five children. The oldest daughter was buried in 1860. The other four, Thomas Davies, Sarah Brown, Maggie Vandenburg, Samuel B. Davies survive their mother. From Sheffield the family moved to Coal Valley, Ill., coming to Williamsburg in the spring of 1864, locating on a farm south of town, where they remained 'till 1891. When they moved to town. In this place Mrs. Davies lived until the time of her demise, March 13,1912, age 81 yrs., 7 mos. and 13 days. The funeral services were held on Sunday, March 17th, at the Congregational church and were conducted by Rev. John Roberts. A large assembly of friends and neighbors gathered to pay the last tributes of respect to one whose life for so many years had been spent in this community. The interment was in Oak Hill. Mrs. Davies resided here for nearly fifty years and during all this time she was ever the same kind, helpful and sympathetic person, one who never hesitated at a sacrifice for the sake of others. She had an abiding faith in God's goodness and this faith and love extended to his creatures. Year after year her course was one of peace and the goodness in her heart encircled the human race. For years she was confined to her home on account of sickness, but these years were ever brightened by the faith that alone, turns sorrow into joy. Uncomplaining, cheerful to the end, she left her bed of pain for her home in the blessed land where pain and sorrow enter never.
