Read More	Gwen Alita (Behan) Hartman, 100, passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at Missouri Slope Care Center in Bismarck, ND. Gwen was born to Carl and Mary Berke on November 18, 1918 in Bismarck, ND. She was raised and educated in Max, ND. She attended Trinity School of Nursing in Minot, ND. She and her first husband, Vince, owned and operated Behan’s Bar in Granville, ND and the Corral Bar in Towner, ND. After moving back to Minot, she decided to go back to school and attended Minot Business College, where she obtained her degree in Bookkeeping. She married Don Hartman and began working as a bookkeeper for Modern Coin and Equipment. She worked there until retiring at the age of 70. Gwen was an active member of the Eagles, Moose and the VFW in Minot. She volunteered at Trinity Hospital and Zion Lutheran Church. She was an avid bridge player and played sometimes up to four times a week. She never turned down a game of pinochle, whist or bingo. She was an avid reader and read up to four books a week. She loved the Reader’s Digest and learned a new word every day, which she would use in a sentence. She did the crossword in the Minot Daily faithfully and was good at it. Gwen loved to travel and went to different countries, many bus tours all over and cruises. Surviving family includes: Sons, Larry Behan, Everett, WA and John (Myrtice) Behan, Bismarck; 8 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and sister, Lillian Aardahl, Mesa, AZ. Gwen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Don Hartman; daughter, JoAnne Behan; daughter-in-law, Tina Behan; great-grandson, James Haga; brothers, Obert (Signey) Berke and Milan (Mona) Berke; sister, Ruth (Charlie) Baldwin; and several nieces and nephews.
