Read More	Faith, Family and Friends: The woman who epitomized these words left this life on Tuesday March 11. Gwendolyn Clare Quirk Dougal entered into this life August 7, 1923 in Dunlap, IA. She was the second daughter born to Ralph Edward Quirk and Luella Elizabeth Murphy. In 1941, after graduating from Saint Joseph's High School in Dunlap, Gwen attended nurses training at Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, IA. She graduated with a nursing degree in 1944. She spent some time in Viejo, CA taking care of her youngest brother Pat after he broke his back in a fall from his Navy ship. Then she returned to Dunlap to care for her brother Robert when he came down with scarlet fever. She was a true Caregiver to everyone in her life. She met her future husband, Bob Dougal, when Doc Burns asked her to go to the Dougal farm to care for Vern Dougal during his bout with pneumonia. Bob came into town to pick up Miss Quirk. They were married on June 17, 1947 at St. Patrick's Church in Dunlap. They had four children, Pat, Bill, Dick and Mary. In 1962, Gwen and Bob sold their business and home in Dunlap and moved the family to Fort Collins, CO. Gwen went to work for Hewlett Packard Company in 1965 where she was known affectionately by many she worked for and with as "Mother Gwen". She was a Line Leader and Supervisor on various production lines and in Shipping and Receiving until retiring in 1985. She cherished her relationships formed during her 20 years at HP. But, what she cherished most in life were the four "F's": Faith, Family and Friends. She was a devoted Catholic all her life, loved her family with a fierceness, unmatched, and was a faithful and loyal friend to so, so many. The fourth "F" held an honored place in her heart, her "Fab Five" grandchildren: Jennifer, Megan, Mark, Brian and Nicholas. She was a force in their lives and they in hers. Nothing would light up her heart brighter than getting to spend time with them, hearing their voices on the phone or celebrating their many accomplishments. They were constant recipients of "Bless your dear heart" and "You sweet, dear heart" from their Grams. She loved them with every beat of hers. Gwen was preceded in death by a brother, J.R. (2 years old), her only sister Catherine (1960), her parents Ralph (1967) and Luella (1977), her brother Pat (1982), and her husband Bob (1992). She is survived by her brother, Robert of Lincoln, NE., her four children, Pat (Carol) of Tulsa, OK, Bill (Nancy) of Centennial, CO., Dick, and Mary (Roger) of Fort Collins, Ryan Smith of Manhattan, KS, and Devin Smith (Donna) of Australia. And, her "Fab Five", Jennifer and Megan of Tulsa, OK, Mark of Centennial, CO, Brian of Los Angeles, CA, and Nicholas of Durango, CO. She also has many dear nieces and nephews who affectionately called her "Auntie Nen". And, special thanks to the Visiting Angels who provided Gwen with much love, care and comfort over the last year and a half and have become a part of her extended family. A memorial service will be held at 11:00am, Monday, March 17, 2008 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice of Larimer County in care of Allnutt Funeral Service, 650 W. Drake Road, Fort Collins, CO 80526.
