THORNBURG, she was a librarian at McHenry Library in Modesto, Calif., for many years. She was made supervisor of branches and retired in 1971. Kathryn Thornburg June 9, 1908 - Sept. 12, 2000 H. Kathryn THORNBURG, 92, Grass Valley, Calif., formerly of Rochester, died Sept. 12 in Grass Valley. Born in Rochester to Harvey D. and Ielda L. THORNBURG, she was a librarian at McHenry Library in Modesto, Calif., for many years. She was made supervisor of branches and retired in 1971. She attended Rochester Schools and graduated from MacMurray College, Jacksonville, Ill., in 1929. She attended the University of California at Berkley, including library school. A member of the Art League, an avid gardener, cook, world traveler, photographer and artist, she did Braille transcripts of books and voluntered for literary programs. Survivors include two nephews, Harvey L. THORNBURG, Ontario, Canada; Leeland THORNBURG, Olympia, Wash.; one niece, Lora Jane and husband Tip RUTH, Grass Valley, Calif.; great nieces and naphers. Burial will take place at Rochester IOOF Cemetery. Zimmerman Bros Funeral Home, Rochester, is in charge of local arrangements. Memorials may be made to the Kathryn Thornburg Memorial Fund in care of Stanislaus County Library, Modesto, Calif., through the funeral home.
