He was baptized and confirmed at the Peace United Church of Christ in Walnut attended school in Walnut through the eleventh grade at the Walnut High School. Haeven then began driving truck cross country for several trucking firms throughout the continental United States. Through his first marriage, Haeven was the father of three sons: Tab Allen, Todd Michael and Haeven Hegner, Jr. November 7, 1969, Haeven was united in marriage to Cynthia Sievers at the Peace United Church of Christ in Walnut. They were the parents of two children: Tamara Marie and Christopher Hegner. In 1973, Haeven and Cynthia made their home in Des Moines where he began working for the Electric Union. He then returned to trucking for a few years and then went to work for Firestone in Des Moines manufacturing tires. He worked there until his retirement in 2009. Heaven died at his home in Des Moines on June 27, 2014 having attained the age of seventy-two years, two months and seventeen days. Haeven was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Cynthia Pedersen of Des Moines; his children: Tab Allen Pedersen and his wife Lori of Oakland; Todd Michael Pedersen and his family of Essex; Haeven Hegner Pedersen, Jr. and his wife Kristi of Lincoln, NE; Tamara Marie and her husband Matthew Routh, Sr. of Des Moines; and Christopher Hegner Pedersen or Urbandale; 13 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; his brother, Louis Hegner Pedersen, Jr. and his wife Rosemary of Walnut; nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. A memorial service was held on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. by Pastor Steve Lewis at the Peace United Church of Christ in Walnut. Inurnment was held at the Layton Township Cemetery in rural Walnut with Nathan Lee Routh, Amanda Hope Routh, Sara Lee Routh, Brandon Hegner Pedersen, Tyler Gene Glenn Pedersen, Gregory Paul Shriner and Matthew Jay Routh, Jr. serving as honorary casket bearers. * * *
