Read More	Hal Dean Workman, Holdrege, passed away on June 17, 2009 in Holdrege, NE. Hal was born May 22, 1941 at Humboldt, Nebraska, the fifth of seven children of Perry and Bessie (Parker) Workman. He received his education from Humboldt, Nebraska, graduating from Humboldt High School with the class of 1959. Following his education, Hal began a career in construction working in Lincoln and Norfolk, Nebraska. While in Norfolk, he met Carolyn Kay Jensen and they were united in marriage on August 10, 1962 at Yankton, South Dakota. To this union six children were born: Michael, Gerald, twins: Debra and Sandra, Jennifer and Matthew. The family made their home in Grand Island, Nebraska for a brief time before moving to Holdrege, where Hal was employed by C.A. Christensen Construction. He had a passion for working with metal and was a master welder. Following his construction work, Hal engaged in farming for over twenty years north of Funk, Nebraska, until his failing health forced an early retirement. As a young man, he was very involved in sports. Later in years, he enjoyed his hobby of metal work, making flower planters, windmills, rocking chairs and variety of crafts. Hal also enjoyed attending the Lincoln Salt Dog Baseball Games and most of all loved spending time with his family. He leaves to mourn his passing, his wife, Carolyn of Holdrege; two sons: Mike Workman and his fiancé, Sheri Smith of Holdrege, Matt Workman and his wife, Aspen of Syracuse, Nebraska; three daughters: Deb, Sandy and Jenny Workman all of Holdrege; three sisters: Betty Schacht of Hooper, Nebraska, Pearl Warner of Palmyra, Nebraska and Linda Workman of Syracuse; three sisters-in-law: Patricia Workman of Beatrice, Nebraska, Nancy Workman of Lincoln and Judy Farr and her husband, Gene of Norfolk; two brothers-in-law: Alden Jensen of Lincoln and Gary Jensen of Bloomfield, Nebraska; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Gerald in infancy; three brothers: Perry Jr. and his wife, Jean, Clayton and Dick Workman; and two brothers-in-law: Marlin Schacht and Gary Warner.
