He was the son of Halbert and Mary (Simmons) Kindred. Hap lived in many places and attended high school in Nebraska City, Otoe County, Nebraska. Hap proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1949~1954. After his honorable discharge Hap worked in Omaha and Council Bluffs as a stationary engineer. Hap married Sharron Poe in 1986 and the couple moved to Woodbine, Harrison County, Iowa in 1987. Hap worked for U.S. West in Omaha until his retirement in 1995. Hap was a member of the Eagle's Club and was a Mason. He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, and camping. He also enjoyed music. In his younger years, Hap enjoyed racing cars in Corpus Christi, Texas. Halbert "Hap" Kindred, age 78, passed away on Thursday, July 15, 2010, at the Rose Vista Nursing Home in Woodbine, Iowa. Those left to mourn his passing are his wife, Sharron Kindred of Woodbine, Iowa; his two daughters, Tobie Kindred and Shauna Kindred both of Omaha, Nebraska; his two sons, Bruce (Ruth) Kindred and Allen (Karen) Kindred all of Omaha, Nebraska; his four step daughters, Judy (Tim) Grant of Council Bluffs, Pottawattamie County, Iowa, Janette (Willis) Hiles of Austin, Indiana, Kathleen Belt of Omaha, Nebraska and Karen (Chad) Hayes of Omro, Winnebago County, Wisconsin. His step son, Steven (Charlotte) Baxter of Oshkosh, Winnebago County, Wisconsin. His seven grandchildren; nine step grandchildren, also many other relatives and a host friends. Hap was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Roberta Herman. May they rest in peace. May God bless his memory and give strength to those that mourn. Visitation will be from: 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday; July 18, 2010. Graveside services will begin at: 10:30 a.m. on Monday; July 19, 2010 at the Woodbine Cemetery in Woodbine, Iowa. Military Graveside Rites will be provided by: The Weiss American Legion Post #143 with Elder David Sherer officiating. Fouts Funeral Home
