Description	:	Born Haldor Vik in 1863, Haldor's family owned a rock quarry near Voss, Norway. He took his inheritance early and came to America in 1891. He married Maria Stromme in 1893 and took her last name. He lived most of his life farming in or near Greenfield, North Dakota. When Saint Olaf's Lutheran Church was destroyed by a tornado in 1916, he was elected to the building committee to rebuild the church.
