Born in Wake County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Franklin Mills and Claire Uzzle Mills. She was the widow of Elmus W. Pegram Sr. She was a graduate of Virginia Intermont College in Bristol, VA and Blackstone College in Blackstone, VA. Read More	Hallie Franklin Mills Pegram 106, of Henderson, NC died Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at a local nursing home. Born in Wake County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Franklin Mills and Claire Uzzle Mills. She was the widow of Elmus W. Pegram Sr. She was a graduate of Virginia Intermont College in Bristol, VA and Blackstone College in Blackstone, VA. Mrs. Pegram was a retired bank teller at the former First National Bank and was a former employee of George W. Kane Construction Company. She was a member of First Baptist Church and was an accomplished pianist. A graveside funeral service will be held Friday, August 23, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Sunset Gardens, conducted by Dr. Ronald Cava. Surviving are her nieces, Sandra Foster (Alton), Jane Mills Hicks (David), Kathy Mills Williams (Paul) Cindy Rose (Mike), Janet Mills and Susan Rose nephews, David Rose (Terry) and Jack Finch (Myrta); four grandchildren, Julian Pegram (Patricia), Walter Pegram (Kim), Bobby Pegram (Beth), and Bill Pegram (Renee), and a daughter-in-law, Ferebee Pegram. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Elizabeth Finch, Helen Smith, Anne Rose and Becky Briley and four brothers, Frank Mills, Dr. James Mills Clifton Mills and Dr. Randolph Mills, a niece, Becky Anne Briley and three nephews, Johnny Rose, Dr. Franklin Mills and Randy Mills. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the cemetery. All other times they will be at the home of David and Jane Hicks. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church P.O. Box 75 Henderson, NC 27536 or to the Baptist Children’s Homes of North Carolina, P.O. Box 338 Thomasville, NC 27360.
