Slater, April 22--Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Gord were held Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock at the Charley Gord home and two o'clock at the Bethlehem church. The services were in charge of Rev. Rorem. The many beautiful floral offerings were arranged by Burton Larson. A male quartet composed of Andrew Maland, Dewey Fausch, Olar Austin and Donald Peterson, sang "Rock of Ages" and "That Beautiful Land." Mrs. M. S. Heggen and Mrs. A. L. Peterson sang a duet, "The Lord is My Shepherd" and Mrs. Heggen sang a Norwegian song, "Fly Som En Fugl." The pallbearers were M. S. Heggen, Andrew Maland, A. L. Peterson, Nels Ihle, Nels Sabo and Joseph Hauge. Burial was made in the Cambridge cemetery. Mary Severson was born in Cambridge, March 18, 1871 and died April 17, 1936, at the age of 65 years, 1 month and 1 day. Her parents were Mr. and Mrs. Tobias Severson. Her marriage to Henry Gord took place in 1892. Nine children blessed their union. They made their home in Slater. Her parents, husband and one son preceded her in death. She is survived by eight children, Miss Sadie Gord, Mrs. E. C. Hoinke of Cincinnati, Burt Gord of Nevada, Harry Gord of Ames, Terrence Gord of Wayne, Mich., Oney Gord of Des Moines and Charley and Jennings Gord of Slater. All were present at the services with the exception of Mrs. Hoinke who was unable to be here. She also leaves 13 grandchildren, two brothers Sam and Anton Severson, and three sisters, Mrs. Emma Reinertson, Mrs. Carrie Ersland and Mrs. Tomena Anderson. Gifts of money to the missions in her memory were given by the Bethlehem Ladies Aid, Mrs. Emma Reinertson and children, Sam Severson and family and several other groups.
