Decatur County Journal Leon, Iowa Thursday, February 26, 1885 Died - In Morgan Township, Decatur Co., IA., Mrs. HANNAH THOMAS, Friday evening, February 6th, 1885. Mrs. THOMAS was born in Columbiana County, Ohio, June 14th, 1812. She was married to SAMUEL THOMAS March 6th, 1834. They resided with the exception of about three years in Columbiana County, until the year 1870. In April they, with their family came to this county, where she has lived until her death. Their family consisted of five girls and one boy, of which two girls died in this county and one in Ohio, the remaining children still residing in this county. In the year 1880 Mrs. THOMAS had a stroke of paralysis from which she never fully recovered, and about last July the dropsy set in, but during the last year or two of her life she suffered a great deal, therefore needing constant care and attention, which was freely bestowed by her husband and daughter and other members of the family. The funeral sermon was preached by Rev. Elmore of Missouri, at the residence of the deceased. She was a member of the M.E. Church for the last ten or twelve years.
