She was born Aug. 27, 1845 at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. As a child she moved with her parents to Montour, Iowa. In 1862 she was married to Samuel Hoover. He died in 1901. She was survived by her 4 daughters, 18 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren; 2 brothers: H. J. Brookhouser at Grand Island, J. J. Brookhouser at Missouri Valley, Iowa.
