Mrs. McMullen died on Friday afternoon following a heart attack on the previous day at St. Anthony’s Home, Dubuque, where she and her husband have been employed. Note, as she was known to her relatives and close friends, was one of Cascade’s best loved personages when she lived here and wherever she went her genial Irish manner won her friends. God fearing and of a noble character, it is with deep mourning that this editor joins a galaxy of friends, old and young, lamenting her demise. She was one of the kindest persons with children we have ever known and none of the urchins she helped and was good to ever forgot it. Nora, the daughter of Wm. and Mary O’Connell, was born November 1, 1883, on the family homestead in Garryowen. She was married Nov. 13, 1906 at St. Patrick’s there to Henry McMullen. They farmed in this vicinity and South Dakota and lived in Cedar Rapids and Cascade before moving to Dubuque. Her closest survivor is her husband, since her parents and one sister, Mrs. Wm. (Josephine) Leonard and three brothers, William, James and Timothy, preceded her in death.
