Fleisher and his son-in-law, Mr. Clendenin, accompanying the remains. Mrs. Fleisher's death was announced by wire message on the previous day, her passing away being without suffering or warning. She had gotten up Monday morning and dressed for the day when she sank to the floor and expired. Mrs. Fleisher's maiden name was Stuart, a daughter of the Late Edward Stuart, and she was born in this county in the year 1836. Of her father's family she is survived by one brother, Thomas Stuart. She was the widow of Adam H. Fleisher, and the greater portion of her life was spent in Monterey. Approximately 20 years ago she took up her residence with her only surviving child. Dr. H.S. Fleisher, at Renick, W. Va., and had only visited her native county a few times since then, due largely to the fact that she was entirely blind. During all these years it is the testimony of those close to her in life that she was never heard to complain, or chafe under the great privation. Mrs. Fleisher is remembered by Montereyans as a woman of rare judgement and strength of mind, and though she reached the age of nearly four and a half score years, this mental vigo showed no impairment. She was a member of the Presbyterian church, and in early life engaged in active work in the Sunday School and other departments. Rev. Geo. L. Kerns, pastor of Monterey Presbyterian church, conducted a short service at the grave in Monterey. Highland Recorder July 31, 1896 Dr. Henry Fleisher returned last evening from Richmond with his mother, Mrs. Hannah Fleisher, with him she had gone to have her eyes treated by a specialist. A delicate and dangerous operation was performed, but the bandage placed over the eye after its completion has not been removed, and at this lime the success of the operation can not be determined. Highland Recorder April 5, 1901 Mr. Cunningham has rented the residence of Mrs. Hannah Fleisher in East Monterey, and the latter will make her home with her children. It is her intention to spend the summer with her daughter, Mrs. C.M. Burst in Culpepper county. August 16, 1901 Mrs. Hannah Fleisher who has for several years suffered from impaired eyesight, has lately almost entirely lost use of her eyes, a fact her friends will very much regret to learn. July 14, 1905 Mr Martin Stuart and his sister, Mrs. Hannah Fleisher, of the New Salem community, came to town Monday evening. Dr. Henry Stuart Fleisher # 62859107
