Winter of Auburn officiated. Mrs. L.H. McCullom, Mrs. Otto Wittkopp, Mrs. Herman Huebner, Mrs. Floyd Boell, Mrs. A.A. Henning, and Tda Bohl sang "What a Friend We Have in Jesus" and "Abide With Me." accompanied by Mrs. Vic Jons, organist. Burial was in the family lot in the Carroll City Cemetery. Pallbearers were three sons: Henry Plahn Jr., Danville, Illinois; Arnold Plahn, Carroll; and Robert Plahn, Janesville, Wis.; and the three oldest grandsons: Bill Axtell, Los Angeles, Calif.; John Plahn, South Sioux City, Neb.; and Henry Plahn III, Frankfort, Ky. Members of the immediate family from away at the rites were Mr. and Mrs. H.I. Axtell, Peoria, Illinois, and sons, Bill Axtell, Los Angeles, Calif., and David Axtell, Peoria; Mrs. F.E. Carpenter, Lancaster, Calif.; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Plahn, Janesville, Wis.; Mr. and Mrs. Henry Plahn Jr., daughter, Coleen, Danville, 111., and son, Henry III, Franfort, Ky.; and Mrs. Guy Plahn and sons, Stephen and John, South Sioux City, Neb. Among other relatives present were Mr. and Mrs. Henry Plahn, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Plahn, and Mr. and Mrs. Emil Miller, who live in Nebraska; Mrs. Mary Plahn, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Schultz, and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Schroeder and son, Manning; Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Sieverson and son, Manilla; and Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Schuman, Westside. Out-of-town friends included Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Mertis, West Bend; Mr. and Mrs. Joe McDermott, Omaha; and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Gobat and Mrs. George Kunz, Chicago. Mr. Plahn, a native of Germany, was a retired contractor and builder. He had lived in Carroll 58 years. Surviving with his wife, who was Louise C. Braun before her marriage, are two daughters and four sons: Mrs. H.I. (Louise) Axtell, Peoria, Illinois; Mrs. F.E. (Betty) Carpenter, Lancaster, Calif.; Arnold Plahn, Carroll; Robert Plahn, Janesville, Wis.; Henry Plahn, Danville, Illinois; and Guy Plahn, New Orleans, La. Surviving sisters are Lena Plahn, Chicago, and Mrs. Johanna Kaufmann, New York. Two daughters, Mrs. W.L. (Hannah) McDermott and Mrs. R.W. (Marie) Dawley, preceded him in death.
