Description	:	From the January 30, 1919 Skidmore News, page 1: "Harlan Davis, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Davis, was born near Quitman, June 8, 1899 and died Jan. 23, 1919, aged 19 years 7 months and 15 days. His father, mother, one sister, Opal, and twin brothers, Melvin and Alvin, survive him, besides many other relatives. Harlan was liked by all who knew him. Davis, was born near Quitman, June 8, 1899 and died Jan. 23, 1919, aged 19 years 7 months and 15 days. His father, mother, one sister, Opal, and twin brothers, Melvin and Alvin, survive him, besides many other relatives. Harlan was liked by all who knew him. He was clean in habits, of a cheerful disposition, thus drawing about him many friends. Most of his life was spent in South Dakota, moving there with his parents, when he was seven years of age. he received his education in the schools of Edgemont, S.D., and on leaving received a letter of recommendation from his professor, commending both his work and character. He was a member of Class No. 6 of the M. E. Sunday school, where he attended. Harlan was hard-working and ambitious to make something worthwhile out of life, but how little we know what tomorrow will bring forth. The end came without warning and well may we remember the words of Jesus when he said: "Be ye also ready, for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh." The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the M. E. church, conducted by Rev. D. F. Harrison and burial was in Masonic cemetery."
